Open Closet

Sustainable Fashion | Resource Recovery | Circular Economy

Thank you to everyone who made Fall 23' Open Closet a great success!

Over 1,000 Bobcats benefitted from Open Closet this Fall and over 700 lbs of textiles were diverted from the landfills.

What is Open Closet?

Open Closet is a textile recovery program that provides free clothing for all Texas State University Bobcats. The Open Closet program includes a clothing drive that takes place at participating campus locations and a free thrift market.

Sustainability is at the center of the Open Closet program. By participating in this program, Bobcats are diverting textiles from landfills and in doing so reduces our carbon footprint. By repurposing, upcycling, and giving textiles a second life, Bobcats are supporting the circular economy and reducing the demand of natural resources.

The Thrift Market is completely free and all Texas State University Bobcats are allowed to take home up to 5 items. By providing a free resource, our community is able to excel and grow their individual confidence.
