RESA Outreach

First Float

Sewell Park Outdoor Center
9–11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. both days

First Float welcomes new Bobcats with a relaxing 45-minute float down the San Marcos River. RESA will host an educational outreach table during both daily shifts.

Aquatic Stewardship

Spring Lake Golf Ball Removal

Additional date: October 30, 2026

Volunteers will help remove golf balls left behind from the former golf course surrounding Spring Lake. Removing this plastic debris helps protect the lake’s sensitive aquatic habitat.

This snorkeling-based opportunity has limited capacity. Participants who receive a spot must provide their own wetsuit or waders. Snorkels, booties and gloves will be provided.

Habitat Restoration Events

September 12, October 10 and November 14

Help maintain and restore the globally unique habitats of Spring Lake and the San Marcos River. Activities may include removing non-native aquatic plants, planting native species, kayak-based restoration or managing vegetation near the boardwalk.

No previous experience is required. Equipment, training and safety guidance are provided. Registered participants will receive the activity and meeting-location details approximately one week before each event.

Rooted in Texas Plant Pick-Up

9 a.m.–noon
Columbus Club Hall, 111 Landa Street, New Braunfels

The Edwards Aquifer Authority will distribute two free Texas native plants per person while supplies last. Each guest will receive a combination of one sun plant and one shade plant through the drive-thru event.
